LLM

LLM may refer to any of the following:

1. An LLM (Large Language Model) is a neural network that uses machine learning and algorithms to process and interpret natural language. Comprised of vast quantities of text data, LLMs can be used with AI (Artificial Intelligence) to answer users' questions. An example of where an LLM is used is OpenAI's Chat GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer).

LLMs are designed to respond with human language, so they are proficient at engaging in conversations, writing coherent paragraphs, and other human-interfacing tasks. Though at their core, LLMs are predicting the next word in a sentence, with enough training, and high parameter counts, they can encompass the semantics and syntax of human language.

In addition to speech and writing, LLMs translate languages, generate or fix programming code, and create chatbots. LLMs also have a lot of general knowledge about the world and can "memorize" facts during training, thus adding to their response stores as they are prompted.

What is an SLM?

An SLM (Small Language Model) is a language model trained on a narrow set of knowledge on a single computer instead of in a data center. For example, a business could have only its company knowledge as part of an SLM that runs on its server. Using an SLM instead of an LLM assures that the AI is not using incorrect information scraped from a different website and helps the company better control its knowledge and answers.

2. An LLM (Logic Learning Machine) is a rule-based machine learning method where reasoning and rational representation gain information from data sets. Rather than numbers, LLMs use expressions and symbols to generate hypotheses about how data is structured and the rules that govern it. Logic learning machines are used in many areas, including supply chain management, medical fields, and the financial sector.

3. LLM is a set of sans-serif typefaces used for road signage in Malaysia. LLM Lettering was created by the Malaysian Highway Authority and derived from the Italian Alfabeto Normale and Alfabeto Stretto. Today, the typeface is available in normal and narrow types to better suit specific applications.
