Mastodon

Mastodon is a decentralized, federated, open-source social network with over two million users. Introduced in October 2016, the Mastodon network is a microblogging services for posting short text of up to 500 characters or image posts that show up in a feed, similar to Twitter. Mastodon users connect to individual nodes in the distributed network, each of which is self-hosted and maintains its own set of rules.
