Morse code

Morse code is a code developed by Samuel Morse and Alfred Vail in 1836. It uses dots and dashes to represent the letters of the English alphabet and digits. Morse code was a popular method of transmitting telegrams and other forms of communication before data (text) and voice communications were developed.
