Mullvad
Updated: 05/06/2024 by Computer Hope
Mullvad (Swedish for "mole") is a VPN (Virtual Private Network) service founded in March 2009. It was released under a free and open-source license and focuses on information transparency, customer privacy, and anonymity.
What features does Mullvad include?
- An Account number that tracks your profile instead of using your PII (Personally Identifiable Information), like your e-mail address.
- Privacy-friendly payment methods like cash, vouchers, and cryptocurrencies help you remain anonymous.
- A custom browser helps keep your Internet activities from being monitored and stored by tracking technologies.
- A custom search called Mullvad Leta uses 30-day cached searches to help with anonymity. If a search is not cached, it uses Google search API (Application Programming Interface) to perform a new one.
- A strict no-logs policy helps keep your activity private.
- No paid reviews or affiliates help keep Mullvad honest and prevents any misleading advertisements.
- Externally audited to provide transparency and improve security practices.
- In-house support and developers, no outsourcing.
