Newsgroup

Sometimes abbreviated as NG, a newsgroup is where individuals can discuss a particular topic by posting messages on a news server. In many ways, a newsgroup is similar to a forum, where users can submit posts and read posts from other users. An example of a newsgroup is a "computer help" group where individuals assist others with computer problems. Another example is COLA (comp.os.linux.announce), where Linux information is announced.
