NSA
NSA is acronym for National Security Agency and is an agency that was officially established on November 4, 1952. The headquarters of the NSA now resides in Ft. Meade, Maryland, as depicted in the image on the right.
Today, the National Security Agency is a branch of the United States government's Department of Defense that specializes in the acquisition and analysis of communications from foreign nations. The NSA also closely analyzes foreign intelligence as it relates to national security. The NSA conventionally has a director titled The Director of National Intelligence, who maintains the military rank of lieutenant general or vice admiral at minimum. Legally, the NSA is only given approval to monitor and analyze foreign communications. However, many controversies have arisen regarding the NSA's use of wiretapping, warrantless telephone record requests, and other surveillance methods on U.S. citizens without explanation.
