Optical communications

Optical communications is any communication that is achieved using light pulses, lasers, or optical fibers. This form of communication was invented in on February 19, 1880, with the introduction of the photophone. A device invented by Alexander Graham Bell and his assistant Charles Summer Tainter that allowed for the transmission of speech over a beam of light. Today, a good example of optical communications used today around the world is fiber-optic communications, which transmits pulses of light over a wire.
