OSF

Short for Open Software Foundation, now known as the Open Group, OSF is dedicated to creating new alternative operating systems based on the Unix operating system. One of the group's notable accomplishments is that they helped implement the Distributed Computing Environment. OSF was founded in 1988 by Apollo, Bull, Digital Equipment, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Nixdorf, and Siemens.
