Power user
A power user may refer to any of the following:
1. A power user is a computer user who is knowledgeable and skilled in using computers, the Internet, computer software, computer hardware, and sometimes computer networks.
For example, an end user, new computer user, regular user, or an average user may only use a computer to browse the Internet, read e-mail, and not customize their computer or its settings. A computer power user may have built their computer, is creating something (e.g., program, video, or website), uses keyboard shortcuts, adds new hardware, adjusts system settings, etc.
A power user may not be as skilled as a computer programmer or network administrator but is competent enough to do more than basic tasks on a computer. It is also possible for a person to be a power user of a specific area. For example, someone may not be a computer power user but may be a power user of a specific program such as Adobe Photoshop that they use frequently.
With Microsoft Windows, users assigned to the "Power Users" group can access more settings than normal or restricted users, but not as many settings as an administrator.
2. On a computer network, a power user has almost as many rights as an administrator or root, but not complete control. This user can administrate and maintain a computer network.
