PPTP

Short for Point-to-Point Tunnel Protocol, PPTP was a protocol standard sponsored by Microsoft, U.S. Robotics, and others for extending networks through private tunnels over the Internet. PPTP creates a VPN (virtual private network) so that data transmissions from one node to another are secure.
