Pronoun

A pronoun is a word that replaces a noun or noun phrase. For example, in the sentence "Nathan enjoys the computer." the noun "Nathan" could be replaced with the pronoun "he" to make the sentence "He enjoys the computer."

Types of pronouns

Pronouns can be broken up into the following categories.

Personal pronoun

Personal pronouns can be words like I, we, you, he, she, it, and they.

Demonstrative pronoun

Demonstrative pronouns can be words like this, that, those, and these.

Interrogative pronoun

Interrogative pronouns can be words like how, who, which, what, and where.

Indefinite pronoun

Indefinite pronouns can be words like few, some, everyone, and all.

Distributive pronoun

Distributive pronouns can be words like each, either, and neither.

Possessive pronoun

Possessive pronouns can be words like my, your, his, and her.

Reciprocal pronoun

Reciprocal pronouns can be words like each and other.

Relative pronoun

Relative pronouns can be words like whom, whomever and what.

Reflexive pronoun

Reflexive pronouns can be words like himself, itself, themselves, and ourselves.

Intensive pronoun
