RCE
RCE may refer to any of the following:
1. Remote Code Execution is a classification of security vulnerabilities that affects a networked computer. An RCE enables a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the vulnerable computer system, bypassing security authorization. RCEs are severe, and may exist for many years before detection. For example, in February 2018, an RCE was discovered in Valve's proprietary Steam protocol that had been undetected for ten years.
2. Reverse Code Engineering is the reverse engineering of compiled software to understand how it works.
3. Regional Coding Enhancement was a type of DVD (Digital Versatile Disc) region code that attempted to make region-restricted DVDs unplayable, even on region-free DVD players. It was introduced in 2001, and used in the region 1 DVDs of fewer than a hundred movies before it was abandoned.
