Short for Ringing Tone Text Transfer Language, RTTTL is a language developed by Nokia to create ringtone using commands to produce synthesized sounds already on the cell phone. Today, this language and similar languages using MIDI (musical instrument digital interface) ringtones are being replaced with better sounding MP3 ringtones.
