Singular
Updated: 03/05/2023 by Computer Hope
With grammar, singular is a word that often does not end with "s" and refers to only one. For example, the word "computer" is singular and only describes one computer. However, "computers" is plural and describes more than one computer.
Note
Be cautious with words like "headphones" as it is a single device with two headphones (left and right ear). In this example, "headphones" is both singular and plural.
What is a singular noun?
A singular noun is any word classified as a noun describing only one. In our earlier example, "computer" is a singular noun, and "computers" is a plural noun.
