Site map

Alternatively known as a content map or table of contents, a site map or sitemap is a web page containing links to all sub-pages or major sections of a website. Site maps help a visitor or search engine to get to any popular section of a website or see what it has to offer.

Tip

Webmasters looking to generate an XML (eXtensible Markup Language) search engine site map, can find additional information about doing this through the Google Search Console. Search engine site maps help point search engines to every page you have on your website.

Should I use "site map" or "sitemap" in my writing?

Both "site map" and "sitemap" are correct but may change depending on the style guide you follow. We follow the Microsoft Manual of Style which states "site map" should be written as two words.
