Slack
Slack may refer to any of the following:
1. Slack is collaboration software for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, iOS, and Windows Phone, launched in 2013. It uses a cloud service that helps teams, organizations, and communities accomplish tasks together and manage shared resources.
All communications are searchable and integrate with other services like Dropbox, Trello, GitHub, and Zendesk. The name "Slack" officially stands for "Searchable Log of All Conversation and Knowledge."
The Slack messaging system is similar and was originally based on IRC (Internet Relay Chat). A version of the Slack client, c64-slack, even runs on the Commodore 64.
On December 1, 2020, Salesforce signed a definitive agreement to acquire Slack for approximately $27.7 billion.
Was Slack a game?
Slack started as a communications tool in an online game called "Glitch." However, while in development, in 2012, the company behind the game (Tiny Speck) decided to pivot towards making a communications platform, which became Slack.
