Updated: 11/13/2018 by Computer Hope
SLIP or Serial Line Internet Protocol

Short for Serial Line Internet Protocol, SLIP is an Internet protocol that allows users to gain Internet access using a computer modem. Today, SLIP is not used as frequently as its successor, PPP (point-to-point protocol), which provides enhanced error detection and automatic configuration.
