Socket F

First released on August 15, 2006, Socket F is a 1,207-pin CPU (central processing unit) socket designed by AMD for its "Opteron" line of CPUs. Socket F is the base for the AMD Quad FX Platform and falls in the Socket AM2 generation, which was used for the Athlon 64 and X2 processors.
