The Problem Steps Recorder or Steps Recorder is a feature introduced in Windows 7 and included with Windows 8, Windows 10, and Windows 11. It allows the user to walk someone else through a problem they can't describe with only words. With the Problem Steps Recorder, the user can record all of the keystrokes and windows the user sees that led up to the error or problem. The recording process facilitates troubleshooting the error, to view each event that preceded it.
How to use the Problem Steps Recorder
- Click Start or press the Windows key.
- Type Problems Steps Recorder or PSR.
- Click PSR or Steps Recorder in the search results.
- Minimize the PSR program window.
