A transient may refer to any of the following:

Temporary in black lettering.

1. In general, transient refers to something that is not permanent.

2. In electronics, transient refers to an unexpected increase in the current or voltage.

3. With memory, transient memory is memory that temporarily holds data while used and when the computer is powered.

4. With Java, transient is a field not part of an object.
