Unrecoverable error
Updated: 05/01/2023 by Computer Hope
An error occurring during a computer's operation that is not defined in the software code and retries cannot correct is called unrecoverable. Often, an unrecoverable error freezes the system and requires a reboot of the computer or electronic device.
What causes an unrecoverable error?
Unrecoverable errors generally tend to occur when a program is running in user mode. In this mode, direct access to physical memory is prohibited; the user is allocated virtual memory instead. However, some operations users try to execute request changes to physical memory, which is not allowed. If one of these requests is made, it causes an exception call and generates an unrecoverable error.
