Uplink

An uplink may refer to any of the following:

1. Sometimes abbreviated as UL, an uplink is a port found on network hubs, switches, and routers that allows a connection between computers or other network devices. For example, a home network may have a router connected to a broadband modem so that an Internet connection can be shared with multiple computers.

2. An uplink is also a one-way connection from a device such as a cell phone to a network or server.
