URC

Short for Uniform Resource Characteristics, URC is metadata about a resource that can be understood and parsed by a human and a machine. For example, a URC could be used as a step in resolving a URN (Uniform Resource Name) address and determining the best location to retrieve the resource.
URCs were mentioned in RFC 1737. They were purposed and discussed throughout the 1990s, but never became widely adopted or standardized.
