Short for Video Home System, VHS is a cassette tape used with VCR (Video Cassette Recorder) players and early camcorders. Today, VHS been replaced by DVD (Digital Video Disc) and DVR (Digital Video Recorder) in the home entertainment market, and CompactFlash memory used with today's video recorders. The picture shows an example of a blank VHS cassette tape. If you purchase a VHS movie, the center of this tape often has a logo or artwork illustrating what is on the tape.
