VLC or VideoLAN client player

Developed by the VideoLAN project and formerly known as VideoLAN Client, VLC is a free and open-source media player for Microsoft Windows, Linux, and macOS. It can play and stream any audio file and many video files, and DVD (Digital Versatile Disc) movies. What makes this player unique to other players is that it is totally free, has codec's already included, and its almost limitless available features. The picture shows an example of what the VLC player looks like playing a DVD movie.

How to install VLC

To install VLC on your computer, download the installation package from the official VLC website. Run the install package after it is downloaded, and proceed through the install process.

After VLC is installed, you can run VLC and play audio or video files on your computer.
