WDDM

Short for Windows Display Driver Model, WDDM is sometimes called WDDVM and is a video driver architecture introduced with Microsoft Windows Vista (WDDM 1.0). WDDM is required to render the Windows DWM (desktop window manager) and device driver interface for Direct3D 10.
How to determine my WDDM version
- Press the Windows key+R keyboard shortcut to open Windows Run.
- In the Run window, type dxdiag and press Enter.
- Once in the DirectX Diagnostic Tool window, click the Display tab.
- In the Display tab, you'll find the WDDM version in the Drivers section next to the Driver Model, as shown below, highlighted in red.
What is the latest version of WDDM?
As of 2023, the most recent version of WDDM is WDDM 3.1, released with the 2022 Windows 11 update (22H2).
What was XDDM?
XDDM (Windows 2000 Display Driver Model) was a display driver architecture used with Windows 2000, Windows Vista, and Windows 7. With the introduction of Windows 8, XDDM was discontinued in favor of WDDM.
