Accelerator

Hardware device or software designed to improve the overall computer's performance. For example, a 3D graphics accelerator has its own processor GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) and RAM (Random-Access Memory), allowing it to perform tasks that would otherwise burden other computer components. Another good example is a download accelerator, which can be installed to help improve download speeds.
