Convergence
In the world of technology, convergence refers to different systems that move towards performing similar tasks. This concept involves tasks that were previously performed by separate systems and now have converged into a single system that performs all of the tasks. Voice, video, and data were previously transmitted by different systems but now are transmitted over the same communication protocols.
The Internet has helped with the convergence of communication methods, where video, audio, and data are all accessible over the same medium. Users can listen to radio stations, watch news, sports, and television shows, download data and participate in voice and video calls with others, all over the Internet. Computer networks have also allowed different computer operating systems to communicate with one another using the same network medium. As technology continues to advance, we continue to see a trend towards more convergence of these technologies.
