Updated: 06/22/2024 by Computer Hope
A cordless mouse, also called a wireless mouse, is a mouse that connects to a computer without using wires. Instead, the mouse uses some manner of wireless technology, like Bluetooth, RF (Radio Frequency), or infrared radio waves. Usually, a USB (Universal Serial Bus) receiver is plugged into the computer and receives signals from the cordless mouse.
Note
Cordless mice needs batteries to work, which may be AA batteries, AAA batteries, or rechargeable NiMH (Nickel-Metal Hydride) or Li-ion batteries. A cordless mouse that is rechargeable requires a base station to charge the batteries in the mouse.
Who invented the cordless mouse?
The first wireless mouse was named the Logitech Metaphor, invented in 1984.
