Feature phone
A feature phone, or dumb phone, is a type of phone that offers more features than a standard phone, but is not considered as a smartphone. For customers who do not want a smartphone, the feature phone is a lower priced option. These phones accounted for 60 percent of all mobile phones in the U.S. in 2011, and 70 percent of the mobile phones sold worldwide.
The most common distinction between a feature phone and a mobile phone is the price. Feature phones are cheaper than smartphones, but still include some, if not most, of the same features. It's even likely that a new feature phone model would include the same features as a past smartphone model. Feature phones also run on proprietary firmware, making them less flexible for running third-party applications.
