Head cleaning
Head cleaning may refer to any of the following:
1. With inkjet printers, head cleaning describes the built-in printer self-cleaning function that automatically cleans the printer printheads from any dry ink causing a bad print.
If the printer self-cleaning mode does not work, head cleaning also describes manually cleaning the printer printheads.
2. With dot matrix printers, head cleaning is cleaning the print heads with a cleaning fluid.
3. With a floppy disk drive, head cleaning or a head cleaning device is a tool that cleans the read/write head on a floppy disk drive by removing dust and other materials.
The picture shows a 5.25" floppy diskette cleaning kit. In this kit is a 5.25" floppy disk with a cloth diskette instead of a magnetic disk. The cleaning fluid is applied to the cloth diskette and then the diskette is placed in the computer. When the computer attempt to read the diskette, the cloth removes any material on the read/write head.
