Kaseya
Founded in 2000 by Robert Davis, Mark Sutherland, and Paul Wong, Kaseya is a developer of IT software for remotely and automatically managing computers, networks, and overall infrastructure. Kaseya offers software to help manage IT service tickets, apply patches and updates to computers and servers, protect against viruses and malware, and monitor network performance.
In July 2021, Kaseya was a victim of ransomware, targeted at their VSA software. The ransomware attack resulted in at least 800 clients of Kaseya's VSA software being infected by the ransomware, reportedly encrypting data on over one million computer systems. REvil, a known ransomware group, took credit for the attack, demanding $70 million for the decryption key to unlock all encrypted systems and data.
