Letter-quality printer

A letter-quality printer is an impact printer that produces letter-quality output at the same quality as a typewriter.
Letter-quality printers worked like a typewriter and had a metal or plastic print wheel that contained letters, numbers, and other symbols. As the printer received data to print, it would use the print wheel to print the characters. Some early letter-quality printers even had an attached keyboard that allowed it to also function as a typewriter.
Today's laser printers and inkjet printers have replaced letter-quality printers and can match or exceed the quality of early letter-quality printers.
