The first Madden NFL for Windows, Madden NFL 96 improves the Artificial Intelligence (AI), hurry-up offense two-minute drills, ability to spike the ball, and better coverage and defense.
Madden NFL 96 also includes secret teams, unlocked by playing one of the 28 pre-expansion NFL teams and winning the Super Bowl with that team.

Originally developed and released for Playstation and Sega Saturn, Madden NFL 97 was also released for the PC. It was the first Madden NFL game to use the salary cap system when customizing a team roster.
Madden NFL 97 also added the Baltimore Ravens as a playable team, and free agent players that could be traded for and added to another team's roster, then played using a cheat code.

Madden NFL 98 is the next edition from the previous Madden NFL 97 popular release.
Madden 98 includes a new feature the company calls Liquid AI that improves the knowledge and game play of the computer opponent that you face. While Madden 98 does contain some issues with the AI and standard game play, the game is still a great game for football fans.
