Online service
Updated: 02/04/2024 by Computer Hope
An online service is an entity that provides access to various types of data for different uses via the Internet. Examples of online services include online banking, educational, news, shopping, dating, computer help sites, social media networks, and e-mail.
Most online services provide tools that allow their users to communicate with one another, and access third-party sites and information that are related or supplemental to their business. Some online services, like Netflix and Microsoft Office, charge a subscription fee, but many others are free, such as Wikipedia and Computer Hope.
