Founded as Doorbot in 2013 by Jamie Siminoff, Ring is a manufacturer of smart home, security products for home and business owners. Some Ring security devices, like the Ring Video Doorbell, are motion-sensitive, activating when motion is detected. When activated, the security devices record activity in front of the device. Some devices also feature lighting that turns on when motion is detected, to help deter potential thieves. Ring devices are linked together through the Ring app, available on Android and iOS mobile devices.
Amazon acquired Ring in February 2018, making it a subsidiary of Amazon.com.
