Alternatively known as a slate PC, a tablet is a portable computer that accepts hand-printed lettering and is operated with a stylus or your fingers.

Unlike a traditional computer, a tablet does not have a keyboard or mouse and is lighter and smaller than a portable computer. The image shows the Lenovo IdeaPad, introduced at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2010, a traditional notebook computer with a detachable display that functions as a slate PC.
