A spudger (or sometimes spludger) is a tool with a wide, flat end shaped like a wedge. It is used to separate plastic components that are set in using pressure without causing damage.
Common examples of spudger use are in the processes of replacing broken screens on smartphones and other mobile devices, and replacing integrated batteries. The spudger has a point or hook on one end, depending on the task for which it is used.
Electronics spudger
A spudger can also be a tool used for adjusting small wires or other components. This version of the tool, shown above in black, is generally found in the electronics and telecommunications industries. To avoid creating a short, spudgers act as an insulating stick, made of either plastic or sometimes, even wood.
