Address register

Portion of computer memory that keeps track of the location in memory. Below is a listing of different address registers.

  1. MAR is short for Memory Address Register and is a parallel load register containing the next memory address to be manipulated. For example, the next address to be read or written.
  2. DMAR is the Destination Memory Address Register.
  3. SMAR is the Source Memory Address Register.
