BitLocker is a security feature that enables users to encrypt a storage drive using AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) encryption. BitLocker is available with Windows Vista and Windows 7 (Ultimate and Enterprise editions only), and Windows Server 2008.

Business computers, especially laptop computers, often use Bitlocker to secure and protect files on the computers, in the event a computer is stolen. Bitlocker encryption is difficult to break, thus being a popular choice by business IT (Information Technology) teams for securing business computers.

To unlock a computer using Bitlocker, the correct password is required to unlock the encryption. Without the correct password, Bitlocker encryption cannot be unlocked. If the Bitlocker password is lost, no one can to retrieve the password and the computer remains locked with Bitlocker.
