The ICCCM (Inter-Client Communication Conventions Manual) or the I39L, is a standard that defines how X Window System clients should interact with one another. It was designed in 1998 by David Rosenthal of the MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) X Consortium and is located online at the ICCCM page.
