Page number

Sometimes abbreviated as page no, a page number is the number of the specific page in a document. The document may be printed, like a book or a magazine, or electronic, like a Microsoft Word document or an e-book. The page number is usually located at the bottom of a page, but sometimes is in the upper-left or upper-right corner. An example would be if a person reading a document is looking at the fifth page, that page is page number five.
In printed books, page number one is usually the first page of the first chapter in the book. The title page and table of contents are not included in the page numbering. However, in some professional documents, page number one is the title page.
