IPS display

Originally released in 1996 by Hitachi, an IPS display is an LCD (liquid-crystal display) that provides a wider range of colors and less fluctuation based on varied viewing angles. IPS (in-panel switching) displays have a lower refresh rate than TN (twisted nematic) and VA (virtual address) monitors, sacrificing the refresh rate for color quality and consistency in viewing angles. IPS displays are also more expensive than other LCD displays. IPS technology is commonly used in professional graphic design and digital media fields.
