A test may refer to any of the following:

1. A step or group of steps performed to verify software or hardware is properly working is called a test. Below is a basic example of testing a computer printer.

a. Verify the printer turns on.
b. Verify printer software and drivers are installed on the computer.
c. Verify each LED and button works on the printer.
e. Verify the printed image has no errors.

3. In general, a test is a spoken, typed, or written examination of a person's knowledge of a subject. For example, a computer test, such as the A+ test, may be taken to verify a person is proficient with computers.
